Aussie Hip Hop is hitting the mainstream and starting to dominate the airwaves and festival lineups. Popular rappers are achieving huge commercial success. But the women of hip hop are lagging behind.

The Hip Hop scene has generally been male dominated however, among the hip hop ranks the number of women is increasing. Women are djing, producing, running record companies, attending shows and dominating media coverage of the genre. But we’re not seeing as many women onstage.

Shannon Power investigates why there are so many women in hip hop, but not a lot of female rappers.
